Keeping green in trend, NEC is planning to introduce the Multisync EA222WMe, its first LCD monitor to feature a white LED backlight, by the end of this year. Seen below, the upcoming 22-inch display has a brightness of 250 cd/m2, DVI and DisplayPort connectivity, a power consumption that's up to 50% lower than that of LCDs with CCFL backlights, and also a One Touch Eco Button that will cut power requirements even more.

According to NEC, the Multisync EA222WMe will start hitting stores in December in two colors - black and white with a silver front frame. No word on pricing though.
