Philips has today announced a new Brilliance widescreen monitor, the 22-inch 225P1ES which, among other things, includes the PowerSensor feature which will detect when the user is not in front of the screen and lower the contrast and brightness until he/she returns. According to Philips, during the power-saving state, the LCD's consumption will drop by 70%.

The 225P1ES also features a stand which enables the screen to be rotated at 90 degrees, and has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, a 5ms response time, a brightness of 250 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (25,000:1 DCR), two 1.5W speakers, plus D-Sub, DVI and USB connectors.

The Brilliance 225P1ES should start shipping any day now and reach stores at 229 Euro (without VAT).
