Following Freecom and Buffalo, Active Media Products has now announced its own storage solution to feature USB 3.0 connectivity, the Aviator 312 external SSD. Coming in 16, 32 and 64GB capacities, the new drives measure 70 x 54 x 5 mm, make use of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, are USB 3.0/2.0/1.1 compatible, are bundled with a carrying pouch and offer read and write speeds (via USB 3.0) of up to 240 MB/s and 160 MB/s.

"Aviator 312 SSDs are a ground-breaking product with performance that is eight to ten times faster than today's fastest USB 2.0 flash drives," said Jerry Thomson, vice president of sales at Active Media Products. "For anyone who doesn't have hours to waste copying large files there's nothing that comes close to the Aviator 312's speed."

The 16, 32 and 64GB Aviator 312 will be released later this quarter priced at about $89, $119 and $209.
