Will this work with my sapphire radeonx 1600 pro 512mb agp card?

It says "-Support nVIDIA chipset graphic cards (And ATI soon)", so your ATI card isn't supported at the moment.

why is ATI always the underdog?

For high-end users nVIDIA is more interesting than ATI, they do have better and faster cards, but they are much more expensive too. I think ATI is getting more and more interesting to buy and I also think ATI's drivers are better than nVIDIA's drivers.
