Don't whether you got this problem sorted but below is the solution from the Vista Help guide:

Q: Why does my C: Drive Icon appear corrupted after I uninstall VTP?
A: This is the result of a bug with the uninstallation routine. To fix this problem, open regedit, navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons and delete the Key "C". You may need to restart explorer for the changes to take effect.
