WOW.

Counterstrike Source Video Stress Test on 128MB AIW 9800SE, P4 2.8, 1GB.

Went from 36.61FPS in 1280x1024@32bpp using CAT 4.11 to 41.7FPS using TC ATI .7.

Not tried ATI 4.12 BETA yet though to compare.

It looks like both of the links, the Lite and the Ultra, both go to the Ultra download page. Need to change that once you get a chance. Also, I'll have a mirror (both Ultran and Lite) up soon again. It's the same link as before, but if you need it again, please PM me. Thanks. smile.gif

EDIT: Mirror is up now. smile.gif
Viper
Thanks buddy, we updated the post, the lite version works now.... Also, can you PM me the links you have for the mirror?

Soon there are benchmark results available! wink.gif

Well best is to first uninstall the drivers and after that install the modified drivers!

Good luck.

I've got a MOBILITY RADEON 9600. Does this mean I can still use the Ultra driver version?
Submarinesailor
Is there a way to grab just the updated OpenGL driver without installing the whole set? My IBM T221 monitor doesn't work with the last few months worth of drivers. I think the June release is the latest that turns on the monitor.
Thanks!
Submarinesailor
Forgot to mention: Radeon X800 XT, Windows XP SP2

Submarinesailor:
you should generate monitor driver with RivaTuner or PowerStrip
or get the latest drivers, it should fix your problem

Jonny_Hermit:
you should use the Ultra edition but you need Mobility Modder, just google it and use this tool to mod the driver to support Mobility series

i have a laptop to with a mobility readon 9700

what do i have to do to make it work?

I just installed the drivers, but am not sure if I did it correctly. I didn't see any installation instructions, and I've never installed "unofficial" Catalyst drivers, so I winged it. I have a Radeon 9800 pro 128. Here's what I did (please let me know if this is correct):

1) uninstalled previous driver (Cat 4.10, I think)
2) rebooted
3) ran "TC ATI Optimized Driver v1.7 Ultra" executable, and it installed successfully.
4) rebooted
5) noticed that I didn't have the normal "Advanced Options" under Display Settings
6) Browsed to newly created Optimized Driver directory, ran another program (forget the name) that was supposed to optimize the drivers for me. It asked if I had an ATI card installed, how much RAM I had, etc.
7) Still no Advanced Options, so I ran the ATI setup executable in that same directory.

Now I have the Advanced Options back, but I'm afraid that I overwrote the Optimized Driver with a standard Catalyst driver. Please let me know the proper procedure (preferably from start to finish) to install this driver. If I need to start over fresh by uninstalling this Opimized Driver first, is there a special procedure for that too?

Keep in mind that a lot of other newbies are going to be downloading this driver with HL2 coming out soon, and alot of them will probably be even more confused than I am. Detailed instructions in a readme, zipped up with the executable would probably help out a lot of people like me wink.gif .

Thanks very much for your help. This sounds like it's going to be a great driver!

erm.. after you ran the installer
its suppose to create new group in the start menu.
and there is option named "Install ATI Driver"
you should click it smile.gif

I have the same problem. I am running windows 2000 w/ SP4. I have an ATI Radeon 9600XT. The darn driver just wont install. I did notice that the ATI site claims that the 4.12 beta driver is for XP, but it doesn't say XP only. However, it does not mention W2K. Think that could be it?

Also, it says to install standard VGA driver after error message. But it already does.

Help would be appreciated.

you can use the Lite edition until we will release update

I have the same problem as this guy. Im on XP SP2 with a Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP. Downloaded the TD drivers, installed it onto computer. Ran the "Install Driver" shortcut. Said it could not find the components that can be installed on my computer. Then I downloaded Mobility Modder and ran that on these drivers. Then tried Install again but got the same error message.

Help would be appreciated. biggrin.gif Thanks.

I need some extra fps on CSS smile.gif

EDIT: oh and I would like to note that I did in fact uninstall the ATI Drivers before I did any of this.

What does the Windows XP Universal Tweaker do, exactly?

The dos window scrolled a bit fast to follow but it seemed to delete a lot of files and my computer loaded windows slower than normal after I ran it, specifically it seemed to take longer at the welcome/logon screen to loading the desktop.

Ouch, sounds like it ran a bunch of predetermined "patches/tweaks" to XP.

No uninstaller for it?

This tool suppose to apply every useful Windows XP memory/ filesystem/ connection.

Tweaks depends on your current hardware and provide the maximum XP performance! It will also clean up temporary & prefetch directories, basicly Regeneration wrote it for Windows XP but its suppose to work under Windows NT/ 2000/ 2003 as well.

As I said in my original post, the latest drivers don't work. ATI tech support has also already confirmed the drivers are not at fault. I believe them because my FP monitor is normally used for CAD/CAM.

Does anyone know how to use just the opengl/directx drivers without installing the whole set?

Will this new version work with my Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP? Note the IGP.

This is on my Toshiba. ANd i asked around and ppl say that Toshiba has made enuff modifications on their 9000 IGPs that i cannot use any other driver set than their own. Which is why i cant install the omega driver set.

Is there anyway you can make this work on my laptop? Im not expecting much...
Viper
Yes our new versions will come with full Mobility support!
Just wait a little more and be impressed... some good things coming up wink.gif

I have succesfully installed the 4.12B drivers with my mobility 9000 after following the info here....

http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=61156

I was having problems with HL2 on the 'recommended' settings before updating to this driver.

It seems that the mod tool itself is not yet updated.

I did have an issue with the modded files being installed in the wrong place so i had to manually copy the directories created by the modder over the ones from original 4.12B

Holy shit...gotta try this. biggrin.gif Is your 9000 IGP?

Has anyone done any benchmarks comparing these with 4.11 and 4.12b?
jeriko
Strange.

I used the latest Omega Drivers, then I decided to switch over to the latest NGO/TC one.
My frames dropped from 85 to 70.

Although I formated my PC and had now a clean install of the TC Drivers the fps did not increase :/

What might be the reason for it?

hi, im very interested in increasing fps for return to castle wolfenstein, since my x800xt card seems to suck with normal ati drivers. i wonder my old gforce 4 ti 4200 had more FPS on rtcw than mi 500$ x800 xt , and damn, i only bought mi a new card for rtcw sad.gif.

So i read ur benchmark tests bout catalyst drivers from 4.10 to 4.12 where the 4.11 drivers gave the most FPS.
Am i right to try the 1.7 light version cause they based on 4.11?
Has anyone some generally tips for mi to increase FPS for rtcw? Cant believe to have in MP mode on some maps 40 - 60 fps on lowest grafics and resolution with 6on6 players on a server. my system
- amd3000+
- 1024ram400dac
- 3dconnect ati radeon x800 xt 256 mb

thx smile.gif
