I am running XP2 on my laptop and linking to my home wired network with a Linksys wt54g. I am new to wireless networking. When I ask to view all wireless connections, it shows about 4 or 5 in the area, all of which show as unsecured wireless connections. I have hitched a ride on a few, the strength isn't there but the capability of using someone elses network is, including, I am assuming, mine.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing in the configuration of my connection to make it secure, and to not allow any hitchhiking on my network.

Thanks........Kevin

Number one: Disable SSID broadcasting
Number two: enable WPA and if the router doesn't support it then use WEP.
Number three: Allow acces on MAC address.

With these you will be reasonably save with your wireless network
