you guys should add a screenshot of the themes to see how each one looks, the user can't take advantage of all the beautiful themes that this program has, and is troublesome to be uninstalling and installing the program to try another theme. something like StyleXP would be perfect. (I kknow is not the same but still)
Viper
We could do that, maybe in new version 7.1

We will write this down, thank you!

Hi There, I installed the Longhorn Trasformation Pack 7 , and i can not uninstall or re-install it. There are still some screensavers left, some icons are still not the originals, but i would like to try to install it again, but it just doesn't apply the longhorn setings anymore. Only worked on the first install, thereafter is was all screwed up.

Any Ideas how to completely get rid of it and try to reapply ?

Thanks
Windowsx
Screensaver is dependable. You can choose not to use to so I'll rollback only things you can't do it yourself. For icon, try running Windows\system32\reico.exe to fix icon.

I do not have a windows\servicepackfiles directory. I installed xpsp2 from a slipstreamed CD.

also i only have the luna and windows classic themes in windows\themes. i have all the styles but they are not showing up on the display properties. Have uninstalled and reinstalled and same. also when it says to select the luna scheme on install, there is no luna scheme listed, presume it means the windows xp scheme.

When installing i do not get the File protection errors it mentions about.

I do have the longhorn screensavers though.

The Toolbar on windows is the standard XP toolbar but in the longhorn order.
Start button is Standard XP one.

Just incase it makes any difference for you, this is XP Pro SP2. It is a domain member, but my user is domain and local admin.

Oh and by the way, it wasn't installed from a CD, it was installed via a RIS server, so the original files are always available to it.

You can rollback system files and some changes by run program again and choose uninstall. After restarted, you can delete all stuffs you don't want yourself.
devilzangel
thanks for replying windowsx .. one more question in regards to your reply ..

QUOTE

This is a terrible "transformation" pack. There's a lot of options to install, but no idea what each one looks like...

After you install, good luck trying to uninstall it. After it is uninstalled, plenty of stuff is screwed up. In particular, window bars are quite screwed up.

Before offering some half-ass transformation pack, how about making sure that it can be completely uninstalled?

Surprised tcm allowed crap like this to be distributed here.

Longhorn Transformation Pack, said that's Longhorn stuffs. Why did you guys wanna install it if you don't even know about Longhorn? I didn't make it for user, just for myself and share it, share with my Longhorn's fan crew. If you really are Longhorn's fan, you should know each option and install it well. About uninstall issue, read why I kept some stuffs after uninstall topic.

i'm willing to admit i'm way over my head here trying to get this transformation pack to work. it seems to install ok but if i change the windowbars/buttons in the appearance section of display properties, the longhorn styles dont load ... they change color but the styles dont load-- it reverts back to windows classic style square boxy appearance. blink.gif same thing happens upon a restart. any help would be greatly appreciated. im running windows xp with sp2.
thanks in advance!

Hello all

I have a dutch version of XP+Sp2 but ik can't install the transformation pack.

Can someone give me some advise about this, our is it not possible to do this on a Ducth version of XP
Windowsx
erynne936, that means uxtheme isn't patched due to replacing system files problem in XPSP2. I'm trying to find better method at this moment so please wait for an update but you can use StyleXP or Neowin UXTheme Multi-Patcher 2.0 for now.
sicmade, I'll update it soon so keep waiting.
Robbedoes, XPSP2 causes replacing system files fail for old method. I'm looking for better method right now.
sicmade
thanks, i found it for sp1 which is what im running after two weeks of looking for it. but i got and im happy but the link on your webiste does not work at all
Yap
I cant install this longhorn transformation, tried it twice everytime i install it will just hang, when i open task manager there is notepad.exe in the process while im not work with notepad at all.
If I kill notepad the installation resume automatically but never been installed properly, I should kill notepad twice each one installation process.
Any suggestion how to troubleshoot it?

I have 1 suggestion and 2 questions
The suggestion. A readme file. It would be very advantagous to have the readme so you can mention that this should be run in safemode. There were files already replaced before I was presented with that info during the install process. You can also explain how to uninstall in the readme and Include the fact that some files are left after doing so . You could also list what files are left. to make it alot easier for us to find and delete these files if we so desire.
You could also include the answer to my first question ( if you so desire )

#1 Why is the transformation pack better then just using an theme.

#2 can other themes be installed with the transformation pack still installed.

By the way I love the way everything looks but I have not yet installed sp2, and don't plan on doing so for a few more weeks. so the uninstall was very important. And had an readme file been included i could have made a more informed decision.
I think the readme file is a must.

Plus let me say thank you for sharing this pack.
Windowsx
For readme, I already added that in program. Check it carefully.

#1 Because all themes are paketed in 2MB but seperated will take more. And trans pack also have modding system files, display pictures, wallpapers. fonts, SideBar, etc.

#2 Yes. Trans pack is just a package of modding system files stuffs and Longhorn stuffs.

If you read information carefully (Check readme), you'll know it'll work on every XP and 2003 so you don't need to install SP2 to use it.

Will it give problems installing it in a corporate PC? I mean, which system files does it change? anything big or just cosmetic? I don't want to find out I can't logon anymore to my PC
Windowsx
I'm using corporate PC right now so it should work fine.
Guest
OK. I saw its no problem whatsoever, but I can't get the icons lo load. I've tried to run the installer again but it just won't run. Can it be done manualy?
Guest
Thanx: I just saw your asnswer. It works great but no new icons... sad.gif Any ideas?
Windowsx
If just icons, run reico.exe in windows\system32

hi windowsx

GREAT WORK! luv the transformation pack!

but i think that it will be better if there's preview for each item that we are going to install as i'm not very sure about all, only some themes of longhorn, so if there's a preview, it will be cool manz!

Thanks for the pack!
Windowsx
I may make that one if I have time because 8.0 roadmap is long way to go.

I had this program on my cmputer for a couple weeks and everything was fine but i decided i didnt want it anymore so i used the uninstaller provided. After I tried to restart my compute it wont get to the logon screen anymore. It says:

winlogon.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because shell32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

i click ok to that, then comes

User Interface Failure

The login user interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.

Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL or restore the origional DLL.

The computer is running on Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 1.. it wont run in safe mode because the same warning come up. I tried putting in the system recovery CD and booting the computer from CD-ROM but nothing happens there either. Any suggestions?

Did you install any service pack after Longhorn Transformation Pack? If yes, you need to reinstall your OS because original files are older version. If no but still can't fix it, you may need to reinstall it anyway.
