As far as you know that Longhorn Transformation Pack 7.0 doesn't contain any extra application except system engine to make Longhorn look. These extra stuffs will help you your desktop closer and nicer to Longhorn.
Y'z Shadow 1.9 - This will add shadow like DWM effects in WinHEC build
LClock 1.61a - This will change clock in tray to Longhorn look. You can customize it as well as you want.
Glass2k 0.92 - This will add transparency to window and taskbar.
Madotate 2.02.02 English translation by Windows X - This will emulate task gallery feature. Not really related to Longhorn but it's one emulated from MS Research group.
Avedesk 1.1 - Cool desktop widget stuffs. You should get
Aero Glass Suite 1 for Avedesk 1.1 for better Longhorn look.
Desktop Sidebar 1.04 Build 75 - Well working SideBar but not really close to Longhorn SideBar but
FULL OF FEATURESSmartBarXP BETA4.9 - Very close to Longhorn SideBar with rich features but so far so consume too much memory
Serious Samurize 1.631 - Ultimate desktop widget to make whatever you want with it.
Styler - Powerful toolbar enhancement.
VisualTooltip - Emulated Vista's taskBar thumbnail tooltip program
English translationIf you found more, please share it here.

Oh, and SmartBar XP is expecting an update any day now to RC1. We've been waiting for ages, since Rick (lead coder)'s "days" and standard "months".

Desktop Sidebar 1.04 Build 75 - Well working SideBar but not really close to Longhorn SideBar but
FULL OF FEATURES Been using Desktop Sidebar for well over a year now. If you have a look at the website you will see that there is a new version and build available, Version 1.05 Build 90. This contains a new panle that shows the system tray that is next to the clock in the normal windows start bar. Check out the forums as well, heaps of people to help you out, you might also see me there...
Now that longhorn dosn't have the sidebar any more, it dosnt matter if Desktop Sidebar dosn't look much like the old longhorn sideber!
Give it a go!

I was wondering what ppl think of ALPHA XP.
Offers almost everything Glass2k offers, with the addition of setting systemwide transparency setting for actice windows, and a cool fade-out effect on windows.
Anyone else tried this? IMO this program deserves to be pinned on the above list.

i tried that, too.
well, it's a good tool, but these cool fadings cost sooo much cpu power, i think glass 2k is the better tool for most of users.
if you really want to wast your cpu power ( you may have too much

) you can use window fx, it has much more features than Alpha XP.

i have another very very very cool thing:
The Vista Inspirat Brico Package 1.1
i just tested it and it blowed me away. its another transformation pack but i think better than even ltp 10.5. the logon screen is very nice, and theres a deskbar on top of desktop with really cool animations. it is also multilingual, it runs fine on my german winxp.
so, for all who want to use sth. new between ltp 10.5 and vtp 11 - download and screenshots:
http://crystalxp.zerackiel.net/bricopack-vista-inspirat.php test it out -
IT'S AMAZING !!!
ps: ltp 10.5 didn't change some things on my system --- vista inspirat did!

Yeah, I thought Vista Inspirat BricoPack wass really cool. What i really liked was the way it changes the tray icons. Also the logon/off screens are pretty cool as well, quite close to the vista look. But it's not really a true LH/Vista style, as the name suggests it mixes some Vista into the very popular Inspirat look. Also, no bootscreen... AND: the 'dialog box' (turn off/standby etc) is IMO not cool... I also think it should include the Vista wallpaper which goes with the logon/off screen.
Another great VS is the "AERO 5203 v1.4". At present i use the Vista Inspirat BricoPack but then change the theme to the Aero 5203. This way I can get closest to Vista look. Only until the Vista TP though....

VB stands for Visual Basic. Its a programming language. Unlike C, it isnt very processor optimized, and cant tie in to low level functions as easily, though visual things, such as interfaces, are usually easier to program in Visual Basic. It isnt extremely slow though, and any moderately fast computer should be able to run a VB sidebar without noticing a processor hit.

the thumbnail program:
it is a nice idea but i dont like it so much as it restores the window then minimises it again very quickly, which looks tacky. Also it doesnt let you configure it to look anything like vista.

you can configure that stuff look for a little box looking icon and put your mouse over it (should look like a windows with a tool in it) it should say Visual Tooltip double click it or right click and click settings or configure.
All these settings allow you to decide how long till it popsup and how big!!

You can try to close sidebar or visual tooltip: these two programs sometimes crash your desktop (many times without flip3d installed).
If you really like TopDesk (flip3d) effects, are you ready to renounce to sidebar or visual tooltip?
Me sure.

What does the sidebar have to do with Windows Desktop Search?
It's free to download and use for anyone with a .net account, and is exactly the same engine as is used in Vista.

That is not WindowsX's sidebar.
It looks a lot like the Vista sidebar but has gadgets I don't know of.
I think it may be the old eXP sidebar.
If you want this look, I think you may have to look for the Vista Sidebar, which is warez so I can't link you to it.

The sidebar you want is the official Vista sidebar. You can learn to install it and install it
here. If you want some skins for it, go
here. For the skins just drag and drop the skin icon into the vista sidebar folder once you've installed and hacked it. Oh, and eXP isn't available for download anywhere, Joejoe says it's still isn't even beta yet.

Mar 11 2006, 04:43 AM
Yup that's the best idea.
Go to aeroxp.net and register for access to a whole bunch of parts (sidebar addins).
But that sidebar (in the picture) isn't the vista sidebar, unless whoever made those parts never released them...
