Well, I haven't tried Maxthon yet but I now have IE (of couse

), Opera and Firefox (and soon Netscape too

). I don't know about you but I use Opera as default browser and I'm satisfied with it although it has "issues" with certain sites (and that's what FF is for

). It comes in a small package and has (almost) all the features I like/want. I don't have to search and install "plug-ins" and such to make it "complete" (like FF

) and it's just fun (as fun as a browser can be

)

! I like them both but Opera has a tight grip on me

so it's my # 1 ! Peace & Respekt !

good joke... mozilla / firefox fixes the appeared bugs withing the next patch, which is coming a week or some days after it's known, instead of M$, who releases an update every half year, rofl

that means security? i think not.
and honestly... i even don't know somebody who has massive problems with firefox

since i have installed firefox at our company, the spam, trojan, spyware and dialer rate is nearly decreased to 0. Before i have to clean every week or reinstall some systems.

jmz don't forget MS releases security patches every month ( the second tuesday of every month

) and some of them fix security flaws in IE. The "response time" isn't as good as Mozilla's but they still "kill"

some of the bugs.
Peace & Respekt !

yeah, thats right, but i just wanted to clear that prejudice

of course it's still a matter of case, which browser you like or doesn't like...
the ones got good experience, the other not

definately i won't step back to the IE

As far as security is the issue IE is not an option

and will not be at least until IE7 is released. The advantage of IE is that it comes with Windows. It's great that we have a lot of different browsers to choose from (although there are only about 3 cores to "choose" from) but honestly I really want a competitive browser that comes with the OS. Anyway I won't step back (and I emphasize "back"

) to IE either.
Peace & Respekt !

IE7 is very very good aparently
and the activex installation in it will be of limited security accessibility
which makes browsing safer
but i've truly never had a problem with being online with ie6
the only time i've had a problem is when some punk in a yahoo chatroom destroyed my bootfiles

theres internal testing going on anir, im sure someone MIGHT leak it eventually but we will have a public beta out by summer (USA)
and new features from leaked info
Tabbed browsing
new CSS coding
running the browser in a lesser security mode to the os preventing Activex controls being able to take over a computer
one thing i haven't heard is this
throughout the ages
Installing a new version of IE has always installed a new version of Outlook express
will IE7 be the same?

to be honest the only problem Firefox users bullshit about is that IE6.1 can automatically install Spyware (active X)
IE6.2 can't becoz of the increased security features preventing active x controls being installed

OPERA 8.5 all the way!!
I personally find the difference in speed between Opera and FF,IE etc quite astonishing. The most features and the best security. I also have FF and IE7 installed, but never use them (apart from IE7 for banking and MSUpdates). I would ditch FF straight away but have some deluded friends who prefer it!!!

Well.......
It doesn't make any sort of major difference whether you use IE 6.0 or netscape or firefox..
I use IE 6.0 with google toolbar (which in itself is a popup blocker) and avast antivirus.
Everything is going great and my browser is quite fast and not to mention reliable as well..........
Practically, there doesn't seem to be any major difference between the speeds of the browsers.................
It might be there you know.......................in milliseconds......but who cares!

Opera and Firefox

Oct 23 2005, 06:27 AM
Well, flash_flicker, i used to hold the same view as yourself. Then I decided to really test each out myself, and Opera seems consistently faster at loading pages than FFox or MSIE. And often, the difference isn't minor.
Research on browser speeds:
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html#winspeedHave a look at the charts. Notice that is no area does Firefox outperform Opera.
IE is quicker than opera in only one way: warm starts.
I agree with the idea that browsers are personal preference, but don't anyone try to convince me that FFox is quick!! LOL

drflip for that great info....
The survey was quite interesting.....I might not have ever knew this fact.....
I always knew that there is a difference between speeds of browsers but I never thought that it could be this much...........
I would like to ask you one thing then.....why is
firefox popular?
Is it because of security or just because of net-hype......

Hi Guyz,
I have joined this group recently.
I use Firefox & I love it.
It is customizable with plugins & extensions for better looks & performance.
It is just my opinion.
drflip
Nov 11 2005, 01:54 AM
I think one reason for Firefox's success is the fact that the browser itself is pretty lean on functionality. If you want more features, you just download the necessary plugins. As a result the default browser is very simple to use, fewer menus and buttons and so on, which is something a lot of people like.
Opera, on the other hand, comes with a huge range of features built in, which has historically resulted in some quite cluttered interfaces. With Opera 8 they made a real effort to clean up the UI in order to compete with the simplicity of Firefox or IE, which seems to support the idea that with web browsers, a simple, clean interface is generally much more popular.

I personally use Mozilla Firefox- I love the clean interface and it is more secure than Internet Explorer. Firefox has many updates which is good as it patches Firefox up making it more secure.
Thanks,

I do love Firefox, even our school officials use it and restrict students to use Internet Explorer. They don't trust Internet Explorer.
BTW our professor showed us IE7 and we saw that IE7 isn't good at all. And Microsoft imitated the other browsers; IE7 is the last one who has tabbed browsing. But who knows, IE7 will be good someday; it is still in beta version.
